The first meeting of 10th International Conference on Coastal and Ports Engineering in Developing Countries was held with participation of IOC and LOC members in Kish Island, Iran and memorandum of understanding was signed by IOC and LOC chairmen.
PIANC Secretary General, other PIANC managers from Belgium, Germany, Argentina and Philippines as IOC members and General Director of Coastal and Ports Engineering Department, Head of Ports and Maritime Department of Kish and Head of Coastal Engineering Department of PMO as LOC members attended the meeting.
“The meeting is held in order to analyze and confirm the LOC programs, selecting the date and venue of the conference and Enhancing waterborne transport and sustainable coastal development as the conference theme.” said Mohammadreza Allahyar as the LOC chairman of the conference.
It has been confirmed that the 14th ICOPMAS (International Conferences on Coasts, Ports and Marine Structure) and 10th PIANC-COPEDEC will be held jointly in Kish Island on 8-12 November 2020 due to simultaneity.
As the first delegate of PIANC-IRAN and the LOC chairman of the conference, Mr. Allahyar emphasized on ICZM activities in Iran and considered the conference as an ideal occasion to exchange the latest scientific and technical achievements and methods in the field of waterborne infrastructures.
The meeting also included technical and recreational visits from Kish Island such as International Conference Center of Persian Gulf and Kish Harbor.
Geert Van Cappellen, the Secretary General of the World Association for Waterborne Transport Infrastructures (PIANC), expressed: The main objective of this conference is to benefit from related fields around the world. He added: “It is an honor for PIANC to make a profit from Iranian experts and scientists in order to achieve the conference goals. According to scientific capacity of Iranian related experts, and due to the ideal facilities in the vicinity of the Persian Gulf, Kish Island is the best choice to host of the conference.
It should be mentioned that PIANC ,which has been established in 1885, continues to be the leading partner for government and private sector in the related fields such as maritime engineering, design of ports and maritime structures, environment, maritime and inland recreational navigation.
